Former speechwriter to President Clinton

Vinca LaFleur has over fifteen years as a professional speechwriter, including three years in the White House, and she has over the years worked as an assistant to a number of prominent persons.

Vinca LaFleur has more than fifteen years of professional speechwriting experience, including three years as a White House speechwriter and Special Assistant to President Bill Clinton. During her time at the White House, she authored more than 100 public speeches and statements for President Clinton and his national security advisors, and accompanied the President on official travel to Europe, Russia, the Middle East, Asia, Latin America, and Australia.

Prior to joining the White House staff, Vinca served as a speechwriter for U.S. Secretary of State Warren Christopher. She also wrote speeches and statements for a variety of U.S. Ambassadors and Members of Congress during four years as a political and human rights analyst at the U.S. Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe.

Her clients in the United States and abroad have included Fortune 100 executives, former senior government officials, royalty, and prominent public figures, with assignment topics ranging from national security to the global economy, the Internet, aerospace, women´s issues, philanthropy, corporate social responsibility, and human rights. Her work for clients has appeared in a wide range of publications, including the Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Foreign Affairs Magazine, Boston Globe, Houston Chronicle, and Miami Herald; her own bylined work has covered issues from global poverty to politics to popular culture.

Vinca worked with former National Security Advisor Anthony Lake on his book Six Nightmares (Little Brown: 2000). She was lead editor of To Prevail: An American Strategy for the Campaign Against Terrorism (CSIS: 2001) and editorial advisor of China: The Balance Sheet (Public Affairs: 2006). Since 2004, she has served as rapporteur for the annual Richard C. Blum-Brookings Institution Roundtable on Global Poverty. She has been a Visiting Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, DC, and is a regular speaker and speechwriting trainer for U.S. and international audiences.

A summa cum laude graduate of Yale University, Vinca LaFleur holds a Masters in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.
