John Alexander is a journalist with a background in media. He speaks about the value of storytelling to capture the essence of an organization.
John Alexander is Australian born, living in Sweden with a Ph.D. in narratology and a career in journalism, publishing, media, education and management training in Australia, UK and Sweden respectively. University lecturer in film, television, Australian studies, literature, storytelling and intercultural communication.
John Alexander is author and speaker with frequent TV and radio appearances in Sweden, but also in Finland, Estonia, Japan, UK and Australia with topics – presented in English or Swedish - such as storytelling for companies and the value of the corporate narrative, Swedish management style, leadership styles and skills and intercultural communication.
There is one common factor in John Alexander’s various careers; namely, storytelling. From journalism to publishing to film and television, the story is the essence of communication, and it can just as well be applied to other areas as well. Stories can help us define corporate values, to communicate values, and play an essential part in ‘branding’. In addition stories help us define national cultures, as well as our own personal myths; the stories we live by.
